victorykicksfb is an independent editorial reference to hotels that are unusual by design, organised into four categories and written in plain prose.
The site exists because the interesting end of the hotel world is badly served by listings. A museum hotel, a capsule in Shinjuku, a lakeside resort with a gaming floor and a building carved out of river ice have nothing in common commercially, and everything in common editorially: in each case the building is the story, and in each case the usual comparison grid tells you nothing useful about it.
So we write entries instead. Each property gets a short piece of prose describing what the building is, where it stands, how it came to be that way and what a stay there actually involves. We work from general, publicly known, true-to-character facts — the kind that stay true between seasons. We do not publish prices, availability, star ratings or guest reviews, and we do not collect them.
What we are not
We are not a booking agent, a travel agency or an affiliate storefront. No hotel pays to appear here and no entry is a sponsored placement. Where a property has a gaming floor we say so plainly and describe it as one facility of a hotel; we offer no gaming, no wagering and no gaming-related services, and nothing on this site is an inducement to gamble.
Geography
The index is deliberately geo-neutral. Entries are chosen for what the buildings are, not for where we happen to be writing from, and the four categories reach across several continents.
